Solo Logi Ship Fittings

Smallgang combat can often be turned by a solo logi pilot, but what happens when that logi is primary?

When it comes to smallgang, I tend to fly tackle on No Sympathy, but I’ve been playing with some solo logi fits recently with the goal of utilizing these in smallgang combat. Instead of undocking a Flycatcher, I’ll undock a Scimitar.

Having a green killboard doesn’t matter to me, so these fits will be entirely focused on keeping themselves and fleet members alive. CCP is set to kill my #killboardred meme soon™ by putting logi on killmails, so when this happens I can return to these fits and update them (how many of you know the Oneiros and Scimitar have Remote Tracking Computer bonuses?)

Another reason for this post is the fact that flying the Deacon has been some of the most fun I have ever had playing EVE Online, and theorycrafting these fits gives me just one more excuse to undock one more often.

SPECTRE Fleet as a benchmark

When I returned to EVE in 2022 I flew a lot with Spectre Fleet on their NPSI fleets. Let’s first look at the Deacon from their LS des/frig roam T1/T2 doctrine.

This fit costs 55.5m ISK, including the 1% powergrid implant. Even with the plate, it moves at 2,267m/s, has a 6.26s align time and 3,882 HP/10,382 EHP. It has 31s of capacitor, being able to repair itself for 55.1 HP/s, and others for 159 HP/s.

In comparison, the [INIT.] Sm0l Beamer Deacon has just shy of 7,000 more EHP, is cap stable, and remote reps only 117 HP/s. But the [INIT.] Deacon is not a solo fit, so sacrifices must be made to allow room for local reps whilst retaining the Deacon‘s primary task of providing remote repairs.

Spectre fleet have done very well in achieving this, especially considering how little the fit costs. Now it’s my turn…

Logistics Frigates

The Thalia / Navitas is very difficult to match the Deacon / Inquisitor in every aspect, except for speed and agility. Whilst these are important, the survivability and remote repping power of the Amarr frigates greatley outweighs those of Gallente frigates. I would recommend any new pilots to be training Amarr Frigate over any other.

It is possible to make a 6MN Thalia for solo logi, but you sacrifice too much of some of the most important characteristics for the ship.

Deacon
Deacon

Honestly, there isn’t much I would do differently with the SPECTRE Deacon. We can triple the price by using deadspace or faction alternatives for modules, but other than the 70% increase in capacitor duration, the changes to the stats are minimal when we do.

We can push 10,993 EHP, 2,381 m/s, <6s align time, 51s of capacitor and 178 HP/s remote reps.

If cost is an issue, it is still possible to tweak this fit and reduce it’s price, but keep an eye on the effectiveness falloff for your remote reppers – this needs to be as far as possible to ensure you can place yourself further away from the enemy.

Inquisitor
Inquisitor
  • All T1 alternatives are designed with a lower-skilled player in mind. As such, their stats will be listed based on their Magic 14 and various other skills being at Level 4.

Our Inquisitor has 6,796 EHP, moves faster than 2,100 m/s, aligns in less than 7 seconds, has 1m20s of capacitor and reps 75.5 HP/s local and 112 HP/s remote. The cargo hold is half the value of the ship, but is necessary. All together, it is still less than 7m ISK.

Kirin
Kirin

As we saw with the Deacon and Inquisitor for armor solo logi, The Kirin and Bantam dominate over a Scalpel or Burst as shield solo logi due to having more mid slots for fitting the ancillary shield boosters.

Our Kirin is fast (2,786 m/s), repairs for 169 EHP/s local and 176 HP/s remote, is slightly more agile than the Deacon and has a healthy capacitor duration of 2m2ss. It has 10,143 EHP.

Bantam
Bantam

As with the Inquisitor, the Bantam should warp out as soon as it takes aggression, using the MASB to tank some incoming DPS.

Logistics Cruisers

Whilst it is possible to make a Guardian or Basilisk fit for solo logi, these ships usually rely on remote capacitor transmitters to chain with other Guardians / Basilisks in a fleet.

The Oneiros or Scimitar can be fitted to be more effective in the solo logi role.

Oneiros
Oneiros

For around 500m ISK the Oneiros has 21,633 EHP and reps for 549.6 EHP/s local and 253 HP/s remote. It’s Medium Armor Maintenance Bot II‘s boost this to 323 HP/s.

It moves at 1,782 m/s, so corrdination with fleet members is required to prevent hostile tackle from holding it down. Instead of the Medium Armor Maintenance Bot II‘s, you may decide to run with Light Armor Maintenance Bot II‘s and Hornet EC-300‘s.

Exequror
Exequror

The Exequror is the king of local reps for T1 hulls. A small group of 10MN Exequrors with long points, webs, blasters and local reps can catch even the most experienced PVPers off guard.

Our Exequror is double cap injected, but has the cargo capacity to hold enough Navy Cap Booster 800‘s for a fight. It’s local reps sustain it through 288.3 EHP/s of damage and it’s total EHP is 12,605. It’s remote reps provide 225 HP/s to fleet members.

Scimitar
Scimitar
  • This fit is adapted from one used in the Alliance Tournament
If you’re over on powergrid you can swap the
Caldari Navy Power Diagnostic System for a third Reactor Control Unit II and then possible downgrade the Medium Ancillary Current Router II for the cheaper T1 alternative.

The Scimitar is remarkably versatile. For just over 300m ISK we have a cruiser with an X-Large Ancillary Shield Booster, which helps us tank through 723.7 EHP/s of damage; a 50MN Microwarpdrive, which enables us to move faster than 2,100 m/s; 31,020 EHP; and a combination of 3 Large and 1 Medium Remote Shield Boosters which provide 273 HP/s of remote reps.

Scythe
Scythe

The Scythe isn’t as versatille as the Scimitar, but it can be made to work with a Large Ancillary Shield Booster. It’ll rep through 141 EHP of incoming damage whilst providing 141 HP/s of remote reps. It moves faster than 2,000 m/s.

They can be made to work

As you can see, solo logi fits can be made to work, but they require careful piloting to position yourself far enough away from hostiles, but close enough to provide remote assistance to fleet members.

Their remote assistance drones can easily be swapped to DPS drones if you would like to help with damage, and whilst we haven’t explored boosted statistics, will be more effective if a command destroyer is on grid providing links.

You can view all of these fits over at EVE-Workbench
